About Us

Trinity Films NYC was co-founded by Mary Murphy, a television news journalist who reported on history-making events in New York City for forty years, and Erin Mulvey, a former Special Agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The company’s premier project is the documentary film, “Saint of the City.”

It looks at the remarkable life of the late NYPD Detective Steven McDonald.  Steven lived 30 1/2 years as a quadriplegic confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed from the neck down, after he was shot by a teen in Central Park in 1986. He famously forgave the shooter, 15-year-old Shavod Jones, but there is so much more to Steven’s story.

Our Story

Murphy is the writer and director of the film, which took her and executive producer Mulvey to Lourdes, France, where Steven McDonald sought physical healing after his injury, and also to Northern Ireland, where the disabled detective engaged in discussions about conflict resolution and forgiveness, after a 1998 terror bombing.

Mulvey and Murphy will create content for Trinity Films NYC on multiple platforms, given their vast experience with headline-making events.

Erin Mulvey photographed the arrival of billionaire Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán in New York in January 2017, as well as many other significant criminal leaders arrested by DEA.  This was part of her role as DEA spokesperson for the agency’s largest division in the world for nearly 20 years.

Mary Murphy received 33 Emmy Awards for her reporting.  Some of the honored coverage included the life and death of Steven McDonald, the trial of godfather John Gotti, both attacks on the World Trade Center, and the continuing drug crisis involving fentanyl in the United States.

Trinity Films NYC seeks to tell stories that are compelling and impactful.
